*** Flags Off LGA Campaign With Aboh Mbaise Today

The chairman of the Imo State Labour Party Governorship Election Campaign Council, Hon Tochukwu Okere has said the party is well positioned to win the November 11 governorship election convincingly, because all credible indicators show the state is a Labour Party state.

The member of the House of Representatives who represents the good people of Owerri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said
with that obvious reality, all the party needed to do to cruise to victory in November 11, is to mount aggressive door to door grassroots based campaign.

Hon Okere made these observations at the Take Back Imo Campaign Organization of Distinguished Senator Athan Achonu and Hon Tony Nwulu office in Owerri, the Imo State capital, at the Inauguration of the party’s four hundred and eighty one member strong state campaign council.

Hon Okere who addressed the crowd of Party stalwarts, stakeholders and leaders, shortly after being sworn into office by the LP state chairman, Barr Callistus Ihejiagwa, informed the gathering that his assertion that Labour Party is the choice party of Imo people was not just mere political sophistry but, hard truth backed by verifiable facts.

According to him, all credible opinion polls by reputable pollsters prior to the 2023 general elections gave credence to the fact that LP is the party of choice of the Imo electorate, even as polls being conducted in the build up to the upcoming governorship election, are also saying the same thing.

The lawmaker noted that with all credible indices clearly confirming the deep rootedness of the party in the state, it can’t be described as mere grandstanding if one says that Imo is Labour Party state.

Expressing happiness and profound gratitude to the electorate of the state for reposing enormous confidence and trust in the party, the Deputy Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Christian Pilgrimage, sounded it loud and clear that, it was now the duty of the campaign council and other structures of the party to ensure the party lives up to that rating, by winning the governorship election.

Hon Okere who vowed to work committedly with all his strength, resources and time to ensure Distinguished Senator Athan Achonu and Hon Tony Nwulu emerged victorious in the upcoming election, enjoined other members of the council, as well as leaders and teeming members of the party, to also commit themselves wholeheartedly to the onerous task of delivering them.

He urged the council members to go all out and embark on an aggressive door to door grassroots based campaign, just as he enjoined them to go back to their various wards and booths and work with all and sundry to give the party victory in November.

The Imo LP chairman Barr Calllistus Ihejiagwa told the council members that the Inauguration was a call to selfless service for the liberation of the state, expressing happiness that the men and women appointed into the council are those who have the track record of winning elections in the state.

The party chairman stressed that the great need for the council and other election structures of the party to work hand in gloves as it was the only way the struggle to win Douglas House could be actualized.

Barr Ihejiagwa who decried the high level of insecurity bedeviling Imo State at the moment, stressed that the upcoming election presented a golden opportunity for the electorate to vote the candidate who will effectively address the problem of insecurity with human face.

He described the campaign council chairman as a square peg in a square hole, disclosing that with him in the saddle as the motivator of the process, the party is already in pole position to win the November poll.

Adding his voice Hon Nick Oparandudu said the party has deep connection with the electorate of Nigeria and Imo State and expressed confidence that that love will translate to victory for party in the election.

He said the ideology of a new Nigeria as propounded by Mr Obi is still the guiding light of the party across the country, stressing that Distinguished Senator Athan Achonu and Hon Tony Nwulu are also coming to usher in a new Imo when elected.

The Director General of the campaign council Engr Chime Nzeribe recalled the beautiful old days in the state when everyone who came to the state for whatever reason, ended up living in the state, due to its very peaceful and secure environment.

He regretted that today the entire landscape of the state has been devastated by overwhelming insecurity and urged those bestowed the privilege of working in the council to go back home and work hard to eject the APC government which is responsible for the ugly narrative of the state today.

Meanwhile, in keeping with the vow of the campaign chairman to embark on aggressive grassroots based campaign, the party will be kicking off it’s local government areas campaign tour today, Wednesday, 13 September, 2023, with a visit to Aboh Mbaise LGA.
