…Pledges to continue the fight for justice, equal opportunities, and safer workplaces.
Today, as we celebrate Workers’ Day, I want to take a moment to express my deepest appreciation to Imo State Civil Servants and indeed all workers in Nigeria who strive daily, working hard for the good of our dear state and nation at large.
The 2024 Workers’ Day offers us a great opportunity to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions that workers make to better our society, improve our economy, and solidify our fledgling democracy.
It is a day to honor these dedicated men and women who toil day in and day out to build a better future for themselves, their families, and our communities.
I believe in the fairness of workers’ wages, safe working conditions, and the opportunity to thrive and succeed. This is even more important in this period of our nationhood with so many challenges confronting our civil servants and indeed every hardworking Nigerian.
It is distressing to note that Imo State Civil Servants are not treated fairly with many still owed their deserved wages running into several months. These unfulfilled promises of salary increases, non-implementation of publicly announced promotions and poor welfare discourage and weaken the resolve of our workforce.
Despite these frustrations, you continue to strive to contribute meaningfully to the future and economic growth of our dear state, Imo State. Our prayers and good wishes are with you all.
On this Workers’ Day, I invite all well-meaning Imolites and Nigerians in general to recommit to the fight for justice, equal opportunity, and safer workplaces where every worker will achieve their full potential.
Happy Workers Day
