Our attention have been drawn to a widely circulated misinformation by a group loyal to the disgraced anti Peter Obi Lamidi Apapa and led by one Joseph Ukegbu that a court of appeal sitting in Owerri dismissed an appeal by Senator Achonu and gave judgement for Joseph Ukaegbu.

For the avoidance of all doubts the judgment by Justice EO Quadri at Yenagoa did not remove Senator Athan Achonu as the Labour Party Gubernatorial candidate for Imo state, rather it dismissed the suit brought by BASIL MADUKA against JOSEPH UKEGBU.

Basil Maduka and LABOUR PARTY then appealed the judgement.

Out of the abundance of caution, Senator Athan Achonu now sought for leave from the Court of Appeal to join in those Appeals, not out of concern but caution.

The appeal only told Athan Achonu that the application for leave ought to be entertained within the 14 days window. The appeals by Basil maduka and labour party are still pending.
