AS IMO PREPARES TO EMBRACE SENATOR ATHAN ACHONU, PETER OBI AND THE LABOUR PARTY GOVERNORSHIP CAMPAIGN FLAG-OFF
Owerri, the Imo State capital will be agog on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, as the city receives the man many have described as “Rock of Gibraltar”, Peter Gregory Obi, Labour Party’s Chief pilot, who will be in town, to grace and personally endorse the Flag-Off of the Imo State Labour Party, LP, Governorship Campaign of Senator Athan Nneji Achonu, for the November 11 2023 Gubernatorial election.
Senator Athan Nneji Achonu, the Imo LP governorship flag bearer will gallantly adorn his “#Take Back Imo” apparel and proudly hoist the flag as the duly elected Imo Labour Party Governorship candidate for the November election, high enough for Nigerians to see at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Centre, flanked and surrounded by the leaders and Stakeholders of the Labour Party, including the National Chairman, Comrade Barr. Julius Abure, the Distinguished Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti and the undisputed national leader and Presidential candidate of the party, Mr. Peter Obi, elected law makers of the party in both State and National Assembly, as well as other members of the Party and LP stalwarts.
Not left out in this epoch making event will be the “Obidients” who will converge in Owerri, from across all the States of the country, to join Peter Obi and Senator Achonu’s loyal, beloved and enthralling fans and a mass gathering of Ndi Imo, whose organic love for Obi and Achonu knows no bounds.
This flag will stand as a pledge and mandate to rescue Imo State from suppression. It will be a sign of a new thing to happen to the State, and it is the needed magic wand that will send a signal to the opponents’ camp, that “Daniel comes to judgement.” It will be symbolic of the fact that Imo State, with its peculiar challenges, is poised for a renewed hope and the fulfillment desires and expectations of the people through the divinely ordained vessel in the person of Senator Athan Achonu and the efforts by the high spirited LP brigades with its people oriented agenda.
Senator Athan Nneji Achonu is a man on a mission to #take back Imo, from those who have held the state and its people captive in perpetual political suppression and developmental stagnation. The plethora of challenges that has bedeviled Imo are legion: existential insecurity, social and infrastructural decay and underdevelopment, youth unemployment, suffocation and emasculation of the people’s rights and a shocking and unlivable display of mis-governance and crude anti-democratic practices that have continued to question the capacity and provoke real doubts about the credentials and competence of the present leadership in the state .
State tourism has died, the economy is on a nose-dive, health mortality is at an alarming rate, education is on a sorry state with four schooling days forced by ‘sit-at-home’ agents, traditional market days are mostly deserted and the entire socio/economic ecosystem is on life support. All these are not good stories coming from a once vibrant State.
Senator Athan Achonu has come to the rescue. He has promised to restore, revive and increase productivity in Imo. Power sector will be restored. Unemployment will be reduced as he vows to tame insecurity. Tourism will boom as quality investments surface; youths will be engaged meaningfully. Local government will function effectively, traditional rulers will have honour, authority and be the chief security of their locality.
Senator Athan Achonu has invested so much in Imo State over the years not only in the fulfillment of his cherished Akuruoulo desire, but indeed to show Imolites that he is a man who is ready and prepared to sacrifice, secure and protect the homeland for Ndi Imo and residents. He created Numo Farm from scratch- a massive agricultural/tourism business with huge capacity to employ 2000 Imo youths.
Numo Farms Limited is a mordern agricultural farmland that comprises an Artificial River with capacity of 1 million Fishes per month; Modern Hatchery; Snailery; Green Houses; Laboratory and a cattle stockade with capacity for 5000 cattles.
His vision is to replicate this uncommon vision and to industrialize the 3 Senatorial zones into major economic hubs that will end hunger, ensure food security and reduce the unemployment which is currently at 51% in the state.
To be sure, his “Consumption to Production” philosophy encapsulated in the “Aku Ruo Ulo” mantra, will not only provide a conducive environment for Ndi Imo to thrive at home, it will also encourage and attract foreign investment in direct, formal and informal sectors. A new Imo is indeed possible.
Indeed, all is now set for Imo State to have a fresh breath. Obi, as the engine room of Labour Party will flag off the governorship campaign in Imo State with the mandate to replicate Abia State’s victory. The presence of Dr. Alex Otti at Owerri will seal the required calculus to prepare for victory songs and with the brave, courageous, determined commitment with which Senator Athan Achonu has embraced the Labour Party mandate, coupled with his astute administrative acumen and unwavering leadership and developmental philosophy, there will be peace and progress in the land and Imo will smile again.
