…PROMISES TO TOE DEE SAM MBAKWE STEPS, WITH INDUSTRIES, LG AUTONOMY, SECURITY, EDUCATION.
…INSISTS EQUITY IS OKIGWE COMPLETING TENURE, HANDING OVER TO OWERRI
It was a triumphant home coming as the campaign train of Senator Athan Achonu yesterday stormed his home local government area of Ehime-Mbano, with the highpoint of the rally been the receiving of Chief Owo Iwundu, Mr Kingsley Ogueri a former legislative and leader of the Ehime Mbano Legislative assembly and chieftain of APC; and Nze Columb Ezeji Ehime Mbano LGA Chairman of ADC, who joined Labour Party with hundreds of their supporters.
The leading governorship candidate for the November 11 governorship election, also used the platform to reiterate his policy focus of industrialization, security, LG autonomy and quality education, even as dismissed self seeking proponents of Gov Uzodinma contrived charter of equity as not going to equity with clean hands, stressing that the only thinkable charter of equity today is allowing Okigwe complete its tenure and handing power to Owerri Zone.
Receiving the decampees the Imo Labour Party Chairman, Barrister Calistus Ihejiagwa commended them for taking the courage to do the right thing, and assured them that Senator Achonu will make Imo great again if elected as a governor come November 11,2023.
Addressing the overflowing crowd, Senator Athan Achonu urged well meaning Imolites to join hands with him to take back the state from the grip of locusts eating up the future of its people and return back its lost glory.
He criticized the few individuals who are clamouring for what he perceives as self serving charter of equity of Gov Uzodinma, pointing out that they are doing that either out of insincerity or fear that the governor will open their hidden crimes and use those corruption issues to fight them if they failed to support his second tenure.
According to Senator Achonu, the only equity which God and humanity sees as a necessity now is allowing Okigwe Zone to govern the state and handing over to owerri zone after that.
He made it clear that Gov Uzodinma has completely ran out of good ideas for the good governance of the state, hence his obnoxious plan to export 4000 Imo youths into modern slavery abroad in the name of securing jobs for them.
Senator Achonu explained that the local government health centre projects which his company is handling has benefitted the state, as 26 of the 27 centres built in the state, have been fully equipped, describing the recent grandstanding to arrest him by the governor as the joke of the century.
Speaking further, Senator Athan Achonu promised that security of life and property will form the pivot of his administration, recalling that even as a private individual he has invested enormously in it, having repaired Police Armoured Personel Carriers with over N100M and donated over 14 vehicles to security agencies.
The frontline candidate assured of his preparedness to dialogue with aggrieved youths , with a view to reintegrating them back to the society with meaningful jobs, warning that those who continue to perpetrate crime thereafter will be made to face the wrath of the law.
Senator Achonu told the enthusiastic crowd that in line with his manifesto and antecedents he will vigorously pursue the Industrialization of the state, with construction of two industrial parks in each of the state’s three zones, declare state of emergency on education, guarantee full local government autonomy, restore accountability and transparency in governance at all levels and effectively secure the state.
He said: “I have come to bring good governance, security, peace and progress to our people and those will come with the transparent and accountable implementation of my manifesto. I will toe the and possibly surpass the path that Dee Sam Mbakwe created and by God’s grace we will restore the lost glory of our dear state. “
As the home coming coincided with the birthday anniversary of the wife of the incoming governor, Lolo Aisha Chiamaka Achonu, the crowd also used the opportunity to celebrate the woman of courage and character.
There was a beautiful dance by the women, energetic performances by children and presentation of gifts to the celebrant. A young girl, Chibunduka Glory presented a special number and a pictorial gift to Senator Athan Achonu, who in turn offered her scholarship up to University level.
