****As Achonu reclines in a divine chair, smiles at belgium rats’ race.
Today is Friday, July 21, 2023. He woke up from a noon nap in his finest mood, reclined in his ancient Akwete fabric roller-chair, sip some coffee mixture to set the day right, because the job ahead is enormous. That Imo must be rescued, is ‘a no joke’ affair.
On the radio, after the news, blare the reggae tunes: “Oh what a rat r-a-c-e!! followed immediately by “Dem crazy! Dem crazy!! Chase those crazy bald head out of da town!!!”
That’s wonderful tunes from the legendary Bob Marley songs heralding a feeling of reflexive mood in the mind of Senator Athan Achonu, the confirmed Labour Party Governorship hopeful, on a day like this.
Yes, the news had it that a rejoinder case filed by Achonu’s attorney was called up. The presiding judge looked at it, tossed it and simply poetized;
“Oh dear blessed man, why do thou troubleth thyself. Has it not been written that thou has no case with these belgium rats that rattle my files?
“Please go home, revel on thy peace and seeth that thou deviceth more good for thy people!”
“For who Jah choseth and blesseth, no man curseth, not even the rats can handle him in their filthy race!”
And that seals it. His bubbles came alive. He was not invited in their rat race. He is not in any way, in their clout, but he can draw them closer with his wisdom hand, caresses them, soothe them with a Papa’s warm embrace and would also ask them to join him for a better life ahead.
Who wants trouble anyway? Who would say the trouble in Imo State by the unknown gun men, serpent or reptile dancers is good to his body.
Imagine a State like Imo with beautiful cultural dances: “Egwu Egedege; Abigbo Mbaise; Nwokorogbo dance; Egwu Pericomo Aro-Ndizogu; Nkwawite Ndi-Ohaji, just to mention but few, not even to mention the Ikoro dance Ndi-Umunumo at Ibo-Uzo festivals, just name it!
How could a people of warrior mirth run to the bush, from the ever known men, yet unknown in their new devilish devices? How could we let our beautiful cultural dances wither away, only to embrace the macabre dance of the drunken gestapos?
Who must have resurrected Hilter in this 21st century? No! No! This is not Imo State that our ancestors lived, tapped and drank their palmwine. This is not the State Omenuko trekked from Arondizogu fearlessly across thorny terrain including the Onuimo River to Abam without challenge.
Is this what politics of Kill-and-go has brought to Imo State? Zebrudiah Okoroigwe Nwogbo alias ‘430’ would say, Capital TUFIAKWA!!!
Why troubleth a man of peace? Why asketh for Jeroboam when David is still alive?
This affinity with aliens to an extent is worrisome. Why would the likes of Apapa Limidi be a determinant of Imo fate? Who said that ‘Igbo Amaka’ is now for sale? Many questions like these should even trouble Imolites more than the unknown gunmen and insecurity.
It is the same undue affinity with herders and marauders who ordinarily begged for passage route for their herds, only to turn back like a cunning spy and suddenly metamorphosed into python dancers instead of ‘Kwura’ milk dancers.
It takes nothing to give peace a chance. Senator Athan Nneji Achonu has fought a war as a child. He voluntarily, out of stubbornness joined the ‘Boys Company’ as a child to save lives during Biafran War. Leadership was a gift divinely bestowed on him as a child. He paid an intense price of gallantry by losing one of his arms. Any wonder the spirited zeal to lead still bubbles fresh in him.
Who among the rat race contingents would say he has paid such a solemn price even with a hair drop?
That Sen Athan Achonu, a man that is wired for a change in governance has come up, stirs an hornet’s nest. Do not also forget that a peep in hornet’s nest usually result in ‘Akpu,’ big mole from its sting. So, keep peeping and continue to increase your ‘akpu’ until the entire eyes dims blind.
On a flip side, that Imo should be rescued from the grip of vampires requires a brotherhood effort. Why don’t you team up as brothers and wrestle power out, instead of playing to the gallery? Political gallantry does not rest on divisive tendencies. It is a game of numbers. A wish cannot come true when the innermost mind has not affirmed.
It will be nice to multiply the number, and gain entrant to Douglas House, than being used as a mole in a game you stands a chance to gain.
If insecurity is good to your health, then revel at your father’s house in flames. You cannot be more Spartan than the Spaniard who allowed the mice to burrow deep into his intestine, and then, died in bravery.
Let’s rescue Imo State for good. Labour Party is one in Imo State, if you doubt, ask Peter Obi. There will always be one President, one Governor in a State and the rest of legislative bodies.
Do not let Apapa Lamidi deceive us. He has many battles unattended in his father’s house. Home cleansing is better done by “Nwadiala” instead of an alien.
Imo State shall rise again.
